Eat Just Launches Plant-Based Chicken Under JUST Meat Brand – vegconomist

Eat Just, the company best known for its plant-based JUST Egg products, has launched a new range of chicken alternatives.

Sold under the brand name JUST Meat, the plant-based chicken products are reportedly available in three flavors — Original, Buffalo, and Sesame Ginger. While the launch has not yet been officially announced by the company, Big Box Vegan reports that the plant-based chicken has been spotted at Sprouts Farmers Market stores. The products are also listed on the H-E-B website.

Ingredient lists indicate that the chicken alternatives are made from wheat protein and soy protein concentrate, along with sunflower oil, coconut oil, and various seasonings. The products contain 18g of protein per serving, and can be prepared from frozen in just two to three minutes.

“Next generation of plant-based chicken”

Back in 2020, Eat Just’s subsidiary, GOOD Meat, made history when its cultivated chicken was approved for sale in Singapore. This marked the first regulatory approval of cultivated meat worldwide.

Three years later, GOOD Meat’s cultivated chicken was approved for sale in the U.S. This was the first time a cultivated meat product had received regulatory approval on multiple continents.

However, the new Just Meat products are plant-based, not cultivated. Like JUST Egg, they appear to be vegan-friendly.

“Don’t call our chicken ‘plain’, since it’s anything but,” says a description on the H-E-B website. “Meet the next generation of plant-based chicken, tender and juicy pieces seasoned with onion, garlic, and our special blend of spices.”
