Juicy Marbles’ Pioneering Plant-Based Whole Cuts Arrive in Spain in Partnership With Zyrcular Foods – vegconomist


Juicy Marbles, the Slovenian creator of highly realistic plant-based whole cuts, is launching its full range in Spain in partnership with alternative protein distributor and producer Zyrcular Foods.

Through the collaboration, Juicy Marbles’ plant-based meats will arrive at supermarkets, specialty stores, and restaurants throughout the country. The launch follows the brand’s success in the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Austria, and Sweden, among other markets.

Juicy Marbles first began to attract attention in 2021 with the launch of what was claimed to be the world’s first “marbled” plant-based steak. Sold in single, uniform cuts with thousands of “muscle” fibers, the brand’s products can be sliced, shredded, cut into chunks, or cooked whole. Since they are raw and unseasoned, they can be incorporated into a variety of recipes, including tapas, stews, empanadas, and tacos.

The meat alternatives have gained a Nutriscore of A due to their richness in micronutrients, complete proteins, and fiber, as well as their low saturated fat content. Last year, the company introduced a new recipe called Marble 3.0, said to provide its cleanest label yet. The formulation contains just nine ingredients, with no thickeners, binders, preservatives, or GMOs.

“A whole universe of culinary traditions”

Juicy Marbles’ products have received multiple awards in recent years, including from PETA and The Grocer. In the UK, 86% of Juicy Marbles stock sold out at Waitrose within just four days in an initial two-week trial, and the brand also broke sales records as the best-selling new plant-based product in Tesco’s history.

As well as its steak alternative, Juicy Marbles offers the Whole Cut Loin and Baby Ribs. Most recently, the brand has introduced the Meaty Meat line, consisting of whole-cut lamb and pork alternatives.

“Whole cuts unlock a whole universe of culinary traditions that non-meat eaters never had access to,” said Juicy Marbles co-founder Luka Sinček. “Unlike a packaged, pre-prepared product that only works in a handful of dishes, Juicy Marbles meats are truly raw ingredients that can be treated exactly like meat and therefore used in an unlimited number of dishes. It truly allows cooks to be creative with plant-based meat in a way that was unthinkable for decades.”
