Smithland Pet & Garden Centers, formerly known as myAgway and Dave’s Soda and Pet City, have announced they will be closing all 13 retail locations after four decades of business, according to a the business.
“Founded on a love for pets, gardening, and backyard living, Smithland has become a beloved destination for generations of families—and their furry friends—looking for expert advice, premium products, and friendly service,” according to the business. “From puppy food to perennials, wild bird seed to outdoor cooking & furniture, we have proudly helped our communities care for their homes, gardens, and animals since 1985.”
Here are the CT locations that are slated to close:
- Bethel – 74 South St
- Manchester – 33 Adams St
- Middlefield – 147 Meriden Rd
- North Branford – 11 Whitewood Ln
- North Haven – 66 State St
- Old Saybrook – 923 Boston Post Rd
- Southington – 1198 Queen St

Closing sales have already begun at all 13 locations, according to the business. For customers regular and new, here is what to know:
- Just in time for Mother’s Day, everything is on sale.
- Discounts are valid in stores only; purchasing via our website will no longer be supported.
- All sales are final on purchases made on or after May 6, 2025.
- Returns can be made for purchases made prior to May 6, 2025 with receipt, only until May 20, 2025.
- The Smithland Rewards program accruals will be terminated effective May 12, 2025.
- Accepted Payment methods: Cash, Visa, MC, Amex, Discover, or Smithland Gift Cards.
- Checks will no longer be accepted beginning May 6, 2025.
- Smithland Gift Cards will not be sold after May 5, 2025.
- Store Fixtures and Equipment will be available for sale.
