Watson’s Greenhouse and Nursery Expands to Olympia | Home + Garden


Watson’s Greenhouse and Nursery, a family-owned business that started as a U-pick vegetable operation in 1974, is celebrating the opening of its newest retail store in Olympia.

The new location, at 4004 Harrison Ave. NW., is now open for business in a retail space that previously housed the independently owned Bark & Garden Center.

On March 22-23, Watson’s will celebrate the grand opening of the new Olympia store and the arrival of spring with a weekend filled with festivities and special offers. Highlights include:

March 22  

  • A ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11:00 a.m. with Elizabeth Bretschneider from the Thurston County Chamber of Commerce  
  • Live broadcast by Mixx 96.1  
  • Charcuterie sampling by Terrace Cafe (from Watson’s Puyallup)  
  • Waffles and coffee from the Campers Coffee food truck  

March 23

  • Espresso and beverages from Voyager Espresso coffee truck  
  • Children’s activities with the Hands On Children’s Museum  

On its website, the company said, “This expansion marks a significant milestone in our journey, and we couldn’t be more excited to join the Olympia community. Our new location carries a rich heritage, having previously been home to a beloved family-owned nursery that served the local community for over 40 years. We are deeply honored to continue this legacy of service and commitment to the Olympia area.”

Watson’s opened its Puyallup retail business in February 1984. In March 2021, the company launched its second location in Federal Way.
