ST. MARYS, Ohio (WLIO) – Back in January, 287 individuals embarked on a health and fitness journey through the 19th Annual Grand Lake Health Challenge.
The five-month program concluded right where it started, at the St. Marys Theatre, with an evening full of awards and celebration of hard work. This year’s challenge saw the most participation since Covid, as the group came together to lose a combine weight of 1,814 pounds. One lucky person walked away with a brand-new peloton bike to close out the night.

“It’s always interesting to see people develop different challenges. We have different monthly motivational workshops focusing on healthy eating, exercise and also the mental health aspect of any kind of health program. Obviously, weight loss, what we all like to see is that number go down. But really our goal is to make those healthy lifestyle changes which take time to implement. So, to change your lifestyle from the past many, many years, it can take a while, many weeks and support to not just start it, but to finish it, and hope it continue it even past the challenge,” told Krissy Mullenhour, RN, BSN, CDCES, Diabetes Education Coordinator.
Between now and next year’s 20th annual challenge, Grand Lake Health is encouraging people to keep up on their healthy habits.
