Citywire Selector | BlackRock axes nutrition fund as plant-based meat off menu

BlackRock has closed its $129m Nutrition Fund due to doubts over the prospects of its thematic strategy.

The fund initially launched in February 2010 as the BGF World Agriculture Fund, and repositioned in March 2019 to become a nutrition investment strategy. It held assets of approximately $129m prior to closure.

Over the last three years the fund returned -12.3%, compared to the -0.8% average in Citywire’s Equities – Agriculture category. It was rated 19th out of 20 funds in this peer group at the time of closure.
