British plant-based recipe kit subscription GRUBBY has partnered with Symplicity Foods to offer a new range of eight limited-edition dishes.
The meal kits will feature Symplicity’s fermented vegetable-based meat alternatives, which have been endorsed by nutritionists and scientists such as Professor Tim Spector. Options include the Smash Burger with Carrot Slaw and the spicy Hoi Sin Garlic Chilli Noodles.
Symplicity’s range is described as rich in protein, a source of fibre, and low in saturated fat and salt. The meat alternatives have been praised by top chefs like Tom Kerridge.
“We’ve admired Symplicity’s approach for a while,” said Martin Holden-White, founder of Grubby. “It’s everything meat-free should be — nutritious, made from real ingredients, and seriously tasty. This collab is a big moment for us and our customers, giving people the chance to try these incredible products in ways they’ve never seen before. We can’t wait to see what the feedback is.”
“Bold, fresh, and full of depth”
Unusually, Symplicity founder Neil Rankin is a trained butcher who became disenchanted with meat-based foods due to sustainability concerns. Unimpressed by the processed ingredients in many meat alternatives, he set out to develop healthier products that could be made with vegetables and fermented foods in his home kitchen. The concept took off, and Symplicity products are now available at various food service outlets.
Over the past year, GRUBBY has partnered with several other notable brands, including LEON, BOSH!, and JULIENNE BRUNO. The company also acquired Allplants’ recipe IP earlier this year, after the ready meal company entered administration last November.
“This is the first time we’ve worked with a recipe box company, and GRUBBY was the obvious choice,” said Rankin. “Their passion for flavour and no-fuss sustainability aligns perfectly with ours. We’re excited to show that meat-free doesn’t have to be ultra-processed or boring — it can be bold, fresh, and full of depth.”
