A delightfully quirky vegan chocolate bar, ‘Figs in Blankets,’ has launched just in time for Christmas, offering a festive twist that combines sweet figs with a salty vegan bacon seasoning, all encased in creamy oat milk chocolate
Created by sustainable British brand H!P (Happiness in Plants), this innovative flavour was the winning idea in a competition hosted by Amazon and The King’s Trust to find the UK’s next chocolatier.
The expert panel included celebrity chef and product inventor Levi Roots, H!P founder James Cadbury – a direct descendant of chocolate pioneer John Cadbury – and other food industry leaders. The judges praised the winning entry’s bold and unexpected combination of sweet and salty flavours.
Introducing the novel chocolate bar flavour, James Cadbury said: “At H!P, our mission is to prove that eating plant-based chocolate doesn’t mean compromising on great taste, so we jumped at the chance to bring an imaginative new flavour to life with Amazon.
“While the prospect of mixing figs with plant-based bacon flavouring raised a few eyebrows initially, it was clear after the first taste-test that we’d hit the sweet spot. I can’t wait to hear people’s reactions to the flavour-combo and raise money to support young people through The King’s Trust while we’re at it.”
The limited-edition treat is available exclusively on Amazon for £3.50, with proceeds supporting The King’s Trust, formerly The Prince’s Trust.

‘A dream come true’
The creative mind behind the winning flavour is 27-year-old London-based illustrator Louise Coutinho. Drawing inspiration from the beloved Christmas classic, pigs in blankets, Louise gave the traditional dish a plant-based makeover to create her entry. Her imaginative twist won her the top spot and the chance to collaborate with H!P on the design of the chocolate bar’s packaging.
Louise also left her personal artistic mark on the project, as her signature smiley face design was chosen to represent the figs on the wrapper. Speaking about her experience, Louise said: “It’s a dream come true; not only was my chocolate bar creation selected by the judges as the winner, but I also got to attend a design tutorial with the H!P team who decided to include my signature smiley face design on the packaging. I think it suits the figs perfectly!”
A sweet treat for a good cause
A portion of sales from the Figs in Blankets bar will go directly to The King’s Trust, supporting its mission to help young people unlock their potential and build brighter futures.
Sylvia Lowe, Director of Brand and Marketing at The King’s Trust, said: “The unique and creative flavour combinations submitted by our talented Trust-supported young people were truly inspiring. Louise impressed us with her inventive ‘Figs in Blankets’ flavour and brought her illustrative talents to the project, demonstrating her incredible imagination and versatility.
Funds raised from this chocolate bar will help more young people transform their lives – making it a meaningful and impactful treat for the festive season.”
The limited-edition Figs in Blankets bar is available now on Amazon for £3.50.
