India’s Blue Tribe Launches “Rich, Aromatic” Plant-Based Chicken Momos – vegconomist

Indian meat alternatives brand Blue Tribe has expanded its range with the launch of a new product, plant-based chicken momos.

Momos are a type of steamed filled dumpling originating from Tibetan and Nepali cuisine, often sold as street food in India. Blue Tribe’s product contains soy and pea proteins to mimic the texture of chicken, combined with vegetables and traditional Darjeeling herbs and spices.

The momos can be prepared in just minutes, either by steaming, frying, or microwaving. They are lower in saturated fat than traditional momos and free of cholesterol. According to Blue Tribe, the product can be eaten as a snack, appetizer, or component of a larger meal, and can be paired with various sauces and sides. Additionally, the momos can be added to soups or salads.

With the new launch, Blue Tribe hopes to offer a healthy and environmentally friendly option for conscious consumers.

“More conscious way of eating”

Blue Tribe has previously launched plant-based alternatives to popular dishes such as chicken keema, nuggets, and sausages. In 2022, Indian power couple Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma became investors and ambassadors for the brand; Kohli, who is a cricketer, went viral on Instagram in December after sharing a video of himself eating Blue Tribe’s plant-based chicken tikka.

“Our Plant-Based Chicken Momos retain the rich, aromatic spices and the tender texture of the traditional version, but with a plant-based twist,” says Blue Tribe. “We use carefully selected plant-based ingredients to create a filling that mirrors the authentic taste while offering a more sustainable option. This approach not only honors the traditional recipe but also supports a greener, more conscious way of eating. Enjoy a taste of Darjeeling with a modern, eco-friendly update that’s perfect for today’s discerning palate.”

The plant-based chicken momos can be found on Blue Tribe’s website or purchased from retailers such as Blinkit, BigBasket, Amazon, and Swiggy Instamart.
