Shandi Global launches plant-based protein product ‘Chanza’ in India – Milling Middle East & Africa Magazine

INDIA – Shandi Global, the Singapore-based food-tech innovator, has officially entered the Indian market with the launch of its flagship plant-based protein product, Chanza.

Designed to meet India’s growing demand for sustainable and nutritious food options, Chanza is crafted from whole chickpeas and transformed into soft, fibrous chunks that mimic the texture of meat or paneer, without soy, gluten, or artificial binders.

The launch comes amid Shandi Global’s rapid global expansion, with operations already established in Thailand, Canada, and Australia.

The company has doubled its revenue year-on-year, growing from US$0.6 million in 2023 to US$1.2 million in 2024, and surpassing US$2.5 million in 2025.

With India now a strategic focus, Shandi is targeting over US$10 million in revenue by the end of 2025.

India presents a compelling opportunity: nearly 75% of the population falls short of daily protein requirements, despite rising awareness around fitness, mindful eating, and sustainable consumption.

Shandi Global aims to bridge this nutritional gap by offering high-quality, affordable, and culturally adaptable plant-based protein solutions that cater to diverse needs.

“Through our product lines, we want to make protein-rich, plant-based foods a natural part of everyday Indian diets; delicious, sustainable, and affordable,” said Dr. Gaurav Sharma, Co-founder of Shandi Global.

His partner, Dr. Reena Sharma, added, “For us, entering India is both personal and purposeful. It’s about shaping a culture where nutrition, fitness, and environmental responsibility go hand in hand.”

Initially, Shandi Global will focus on B2B distribution, supplying restaurants, corporates, and institutions.

Retail expansion into metro cities is planned for 2026, alongside partnerships with gyms, wellness platforms, and fitness communities.

The company’s broader portfolio, under brands such as Forever, Sprouty, and Proty, which includes plant-based meats, protein drinks, and soups, is already available in Singapore and Australia.

Powered by proprietary Canatein/Sproutin technology, Shandi is also developing protein-enriched supplements, snacks, cookies, and ready-to-eat meals tailored for the Indian market.

The company’s innovation was recently recognized at the Vegan India Conference 2025, where it received the “Protein Innovation Icon of the Year” award.

With its India launch, Shandi Global aims not only to enter a vast market but also to fuel a broader movement toward healthier eating and more sustainable food systems, ensuring that every meal can contribute to better health and a more sustainable planet.
